Brief list of Environmental issues that exists in Mareb region

1) Due to the collapse of the project which was meant to irrigate the region next to the Great Mareb Dam, the livelihood and the economy of the people has been affected immensely. To add on this the quality of the water is in bad condition due to the fact that water has been kept in standstill position for quite sometime so the heath issue of the people involved has been deteriorating enormously.

2) Although we appreciate that companies have invested in Mareb region has brought to the country wealth but unfortunately nothing has been done or searched on the possibility of the water level reducing in unbelievable proportion. We will really appreciate if the companies involved would take care or even consider that there are human beings who depends on water for their life.

3) Year after year the temperature of Mareb region has been increasing followed by humidity due to the fact that a lot of companies especially oil industries have been flaring the unwanted gas without monitoring the quality of air in Mareb region. AEPA feels strongly about companies that do not take into consideration people and their health. AEPA will be most greatfull with all due respect if the companies would ever consider our concern.
